Review
This gorgeous museum is located behind Lexicon in Dun Laoghaire in a former church. For several years I have thought that it is a small, "not so interesting" museum about maritime history, but when we finally visited it on a rainy Sunday morning, we spent nearly 2 hours inside and we will definitely return soon. This museum is far from being dry and boring: the kids were amazed by the interactive displays (wind the foghorn, operate the steam engine, send a morse message, save the bear etc) and we were fascinated by the story boards and the building itself. The entry fee for a family (2+2) is €12, which is very reasonable, but as the museum is run by volunteers, they greatly appreciate any further support or donation. At the moment there is no guided tour in the museum, but the volunteers are happy to answer any of your questions related to maritime history or the artefacts displayed in the museum.
How to get there: DART: Dun Laoghaire Bus: 7, 7a, 46a, 59, 75, 111, 746
Entry is priced
